About Wreaths Across America
The Wreaths Across America concept was founded by a wreath making company owner (Morrill Worcester) on the east coast in 1992. It started when Mr. Worcester's company had an over abundance of wreaths one year. He subsequently had them delivered to the Arlington National Cemetery, where with the help of volunteers, they were laid on the grave sites of many fallen heroes. His act of kindness, respect and patriotism evolved in to the creation of the non-profit organization approximately 10 years ago. The organization is actively involved in encouraging this annual tribute, which occurs the third Saturday of each December, throughout the country. Their mission is to "Remember, Honor and Teach". They report this ceremony is now occurring annually in over 1600 locations nationwide. Unfortunately movement on the west coast has been slow to follow. In Santa Clara County, there are only two noted locations (Gilroy/Morgan Hill and Los Altos), which honors our veterans in this unique way, which is why we have added Los Gatos Memorial Park to this growing local number.
